2025

January 2025

The ProcTwin project has its pre-kick off meeting online on 23 January 2025. The project coordinator provided an overview of the project, its goals and the expected impact. Project partners introduced themselves and explained their role in the project.

March 2025

The BFI colleagues visited for the first time the continuous casting plant at the electric steelworks of industrial partner Global Steel Wire in Santander to discuss the initial steps towards installing a fiber optic temperature measurement system in the mould and a camera-based mould powder monitoring system. 

May 2025

The first ProcTwin project General Assembly took place at Swerim on 7-8 May in Stockholm. The consortium partners also had the chance to visit the SSAB plant to learn more about steel production processes.

June 2025
The ProcTwin project had its first presentation at ESTEP Spring Dissemination Event in Krakow Poland on 5 June 2025. Tania Irebo Schwartz from Swerim explained the concept of the project and the its expected results. 

September 2025
The ProcTwin project was featured in an article in Voister thanks to 
our project partner prof. Gunnar Mathiason from University of Skövde!

September 2025
On 26 September 2025, the consortium also had their regular project progress meeting online in order to exchange updates, align on progress, and plan the next steps. These regular check-ins are key to ensuring smooth collaboration and keeping the project on track

October 2025
The ProcTwin project
participated in the ESTEP Annual Event 2025 in Udine, contributing to the Digital Poster Session entitled “A distributed AI platform for optimizing and visualization of steel manufacturing process chains.”
The event provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and insights with colleagues and other partners within the European steel innovation community.

November 2025
The ProcTwin
consortium gathered on 5-6 November 2025 in Santander (Spain) for its 2nd General Assembly, kindly hosted by CELSA GSW. Over two days of productive discussions and collaboration, partners reviewed the project’s progress, shared technical achievements, and aligned on the next steps.
