PRISMA is pioneering sustainable practices in the European steel industry, aligning with the Green Deal and Twin Transition objectives. Central to PRISMA is to develop a Unified Environmental Data Model (UEDM), streamlining environmental reporting and analysis across the steel value chain. Leveraging modern digital infrastructure and platforms, PRISMA aims to quantify and mitigate
steel production's carbon footprint through, for example, dynamic life cycle assessments (LCAs) and digital product passports (DPPs). Led by industry giants like Celsa, Tata Steel, Ori Martin, and ABS, PRISMA's industrial pilots optimize processes from scrap processing to product distribution, emphasizing energy efficiency and emissions reduction. These pilot demonstrations will provide tangible proof of concept and validate the effectiveness of PRISMA's solutions in real-world settings, ensuring their practicality and scalability.
PRISMA project partner and particularly its four plant builder partners Danieli, SMS, Primetals, and Tenova, which for the first time join to develop and proposed for standardisation a Unified Environmental Data Model, represents a transformative force within the steel
industry, driving innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness. The PRISMA industrial partners has invited Luleå University of Technology (LTU) to build the bridge to the CHIPS-JU and projects related to advanced data model and digital infrastructure. In essence, PRISMA aspires to reshape European steel manufacturing, driving environmental sustainability, competitiveness, and a
greener economy.
