ESTEP annual event 2025

How decarbonisation, digitisation, and circular solutions forge the sustainable European steel future

The ESTEP Annual Event 2025 on " How decarbonisation, digitisation, and circular solutions forge the sustainable European steel future " took place from 28 to 30 October 2025 in Udine (Italy). It started on 28 October 2025 with an optional visit of Acciaierie Bertoli Safau SpA (ABS) facilities, and was then followed with a two-days technical conference at the Biblioteca Rizzi of the Udine University (Università degli Studi di Udine).

The event aimed at bringing together the European steel community to explore research and innovation in decarbonization, digitization, and circular solutions that will shape the sustainable future of the European steel industry.

Achievements, challenges, and future perspectives were examined through contributions from diverse European steelmaking stakeholders and presentations of ongoing projects under the Clean Steel Partnership. The event fostered dialogue between the steel sector and other key industries engaged in the European Green Deal - such as for e.g. cement, water, and aluminium - to promote industrial symbiosis and cross-sector collaboration.
